ENHG in the Press!

The ENHG has been in the press lately in the lead-up to this year's Inter-Emirates Weekend, an extravaganza of field trips, lectures, outdoor adventures, and more. The responsibility to host the event is taken in turns by all the national chapters, and this year it's Abu Dhabi's turn.

A write-up in The National features an interview with our Chair, Arabella Willing, and a teaser of what to expect. This blog will be full of tales from this year's event for months to come!

On a more sobering note, another article recently appeared about a fallen RAF pilot, William 'Billy' Donnelly, who was the only Commonwealth soldier to die in what is now the UAE during WW2. The article delves into how Donnelly's long-lost niece had been trying to locate his grave for decades, until she came across an article written by Peter Hellyer and Laurence Garey in our very own Tribulus magazine. In fact, Laurence had been the recipient of a research grant in 2011 that allowed him to comb through the RAF archives to find out what happened.

The article is touching, and serves as a poignant reminder that history is the lived experience of real people. Please give it a read, and marvel that 75 years later, a lost soldier can be found and remembered.
